The Z1-HABTAP or the Z1 High Altitude Balloon Test Aeronautical Platform is an initial prototype high altitude platform. Is currently being developed by RedSkinkAstroBio in the UK as a proof of concept test platform with subsequent a modular development planned once development is complete. The aim of the project is to provide an economical high altitude test platform for scientific research. The project is underdevelopment and is in the stage of funding acquisition and research and development.

Launch

The launch site is currently planned within the UK however a French launch site has also been suggested. First launch is planned for mid 2012.

The current design consists of 3 Components:

Recovery Component
- Parachute and deployment mechanism

- Long Range Tracking and Communication Module
- Short Range Tracking Module
